Beers

Which of your beers are gluten-free?

Our flagship Lager Nico is gluten-free.
We occasionally have White Label Series specials which are gluten-free and advertised as such on the website and on the bottles.

How is Nico gluten-free?

Our award-winning Nico Köln Lager is now classified as gluten-free. Whilst it's still made with malted barley, we use an enzyme called Brewer’s Clarex, which reduces the gluten content to below 20ppm which is the legal requirement to list a product as ‘gluten-free’ in the UK.
To ensure that it’s compliant with current laws and regulations, we regularly have Nico tested by an independent UKAS-accredited lab, to ensure that our parts per million (ppm) sits below the legal requirement of 20 ppm (parts per million).
This enzyme doesn’t affect the taste but means it is safe to drink for many people who are sensitive to gluten. We demonstrate this on the bottle labels using a simple GF icon, whilst still listing barley malt in the ingredients list as an allergen, along with Brewer’s Clarex.
Whilst the ‘GF’ symbol is on the bottles, you won’t find it on our keg badges. It’s the same beer in keg as in bottles, but we can’t guarantee that the beer is being poured through a gluten-free line. As such, we will leave it to our stockists to maintain the beer as gluten-free and communicate it as they see fit. If you have any questions about the beer or the process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Can people with coeliac disease drink Nico?

If you’re someone who suffers from coeliac disease, a severe allergy to cereals containing gluten or another condition where you must avoid gluten, you must decide whether it’s safe to drink a product that contains cereals containing gluten, even if they’re labelled as gluten-free. As with any gluten-free product, less than 20ppm is fine for most, but not everyone.
Whilst we use Brewers Clarex to break down the gluten in the beer, we cannot guarantee that the beer was made in a completely gluten-free environment.

Which of your beers are vegan-friendly?

Our core range of beers are all vegan-friendly (Nico, Ivo, Peel, Dead Wax)
Tzatziki Sour is not vegan-friendly as it’s kettle-soured with Greek yoghurt.
We often have White Label Series specials which are vegan-friendly and advertised as such on the website and on the bottles.

What goes into your beers?

All ingredients and allergens are listed on our bottles and website.
Our beers are made with all natural ingredients, no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives. All unfiltered.

How should I store your Beers?

Our beer is best kept cold and fresh, so we would suggest that you keep them in the fridge. The serving temperature is indicated on our bottles, so you might want to take some out of the fridge a little earlier depending on your preference.

Webshop

Will sold-out beers come back into stock?

Our core range of beers are brewed regularly, so if we happen to be out of stock, it won’t be too long until they’re back!

Our limited-edition White Label Series Beers, collaborations, Digger’s Series barrel-aged beers, and seasonal products may only ever be brewed once or annually in the case of seasonal products. So you have to be quick, once they’re gone, they’re gone!
