It's a big month here at Orbit as we're celebrating our 10th birthday! So whether you're popping into the taproom or out and about around London, here is an update of what we've got going on in July.
Thursday 4th - Leiper's Fork Bourbon Launch

We'll be hosting the launch of Leiper's Fork Bourbon in the UK, so pop down to the taproom for some special menus, whiskey cocktails and tasters. Leiper’s Fork Distillery is a small-batch whiskey distillery located in Williamson County Tennessee. Since filling their first barrel in the Spring of 2016, their aim has been to resurrect the lost art of small-batch whiskey production that was prevalent in the hills of middle Tennessee from its earliest founding.
Friday 5th - Nico Night on the Road!

Orbit Beers are turning ten yrs old in July, and to celebrate, London’s favourite Cologne drinking experience is back! This time we're celebrating not only Cologne, but Düsseldorf drinking culture as well with the re-release of our Altbier Neu. We'll be serving up Nico from the wood and Neu altbier in traditional Cologne-style from 6pm - 8pm at Kill The Cat in Spitalfields market.
Round up your mates and join us for a night of Nico Kölsch or Neu Altbier stanges, and Nico served from the wood for a Cologne vs Düsseldorf-inspired night out. Enjoy Orbit's award-winning Nico Lager and Neu Altbier the way they're supposed to be drunk!

Wednesday 10th - Neu Altbier Launch

Neu Altbier (last brewed in 2017) kicks off the 10th Birthday festivities. As the third beer ever produced by Orbit returns (back by popular demand) we're bringing it back 10 years on. A nod to the early days of Orbit Beers and a toast to the future. We’ll also have the Beer & Burger Deal on as usual (£12) with Cue Point LDN, and will be showing the men’s European Championship semi-final.
Thursday 11th - The Damson Blend Cuvée Launch & Barrel-Aged Birthday Showcase

The launch of the BA Damson Blend: Cuvée de Cologne 2024 alongside rare barrel-aged beers from the archives such as 2022 Barrel-Aged Lentebock and BA Barley Wine, plus the 2024 BA Keeping Porter in collaboration with Anspach & Hobday.

The third Thursday of every month is Poetry Open Mic Night. Come along to share lyrics, poetry, and thoughts, with or without music in an inclusive, relaxed, and supportive space.

Round up your mates, book a table, and join us for a night of Nico Kölsch or Neu Altbier stanges, food from Cue Point LDN, and Nico served from the wood for a Cologne vs Düsseldorf-inspired night out. Enjoy Orbit's award-winning Nico Lager and Neu Altbier the way they're supposed to be drunk!
If you've ever been to Cologne or Düsseldorf, you'll have noticed that their drinking culture is wildly different to ours, instead of going up to the bar to order, the smartly dressed and no-nonsense waiters (called Köbes) will bring over circular beer trays (called Kranz) laden with tall thin glasses (called stanges), containing 200ml of freshly poured Kölsch (Köln-style lager) in Cologne, or Altbier (copper-coloured ale) in Düsseldorf.
When the beers have been served, the Köbe will mark your beer mat (pictured below) to keep track of how many you've had. When your beer is nearly empty the Köbe will bring another stange, and another, until you place a beer mat on top of your glass, signalling you've had your fill.
Tickets include however many stanges of Nico or Neu you want to pre-order and will guarantee you a table on the night. Once you’ve reached your ticketed amount you can continue to order as many as you like on the night though, as well as any other food and drinks which will just be charged separately.
Each Nico lager stange or Neu Altbier stange (200ml) is priced at £1.95 on the night and by ordering your ticket in advance you can save 15% and secure you and your group a table!
