Whether you're popping into the taproom or out and about around London, here is an update on what we've got going on in July.
Thursday 6th - Launch Night
'No Food For Lazy Man'
Orbit Beers Taproom
Join us at the Taproom on Thursday 6th of July for the launch of our new White Labels Series Beer 'No Food For Lazy Man'. This Strong Golden Ale is a collaboration with @southlondongallery & Nigerian Artist Emeka Ogboh ahead of his exhibition opening on Wednesday 5th July 'Lagos, Peckham, Repeat: A Pilgrimage to the Lakes'.
This 6% Strong Golden Ale is a warm golden colour with a big, fluffy white head. It has sweet, malt aromas with gentle ginger undertones and a woody brightness.
Expect malt biscuit flavours, followed by resinous, herbal thyme notes. A warming sweetness from the malts and sugar cane, balanced by a moreish bitterness from the English hops, and a peppery, spiced finish from the Calabash Nutmeg, & Melegueta Pepper.
Known as ‘Little Lagos’, Peckham is home to one of the largest Nigerian diaspora communities in the UK.
'Lagos, Peckham, Repeat: Pilgrimage to the Lakes' is a major group exhibition looking at the connections between Lagos in Nigeria and Peckham in South East London. The exhibition highlights the relationships, culture, shared history, communities, and art that link the two places.
'No Food For Lazy Man' connects Peckham and Lagos through the use of English hops (Archer and Opus), alongside traditional Nigerian ingredients - Sugar Cane, Calabash Nutmeg, and Melegueta Pepper. The beer was also fermented at Orbit Brewery under Ogboh’s sound installation so that the beer was “vibrating to the sound of Lagos” during fermentation.
The limited edition beer is out now and available on the webshop. The beer will be released exclusively at @jumbipeckham on Wednesday 5th July, the same day the exhibition opens.
We're then launching the beer at the taproom on Thursday 6th July, with food pairings from @cuepointldn and music from Emeka Ogboh.

Wednesday 19th - Nico Night
A Cologne Experience in London
The Shirker's Rest
For more 9th Birthday celebrations, we're taking Nico Night on the road! We're heading down to Shirker's Rest on Wednesday 19th July with our team of Kobes. Join us for a night of Nico Kölsch stanges and Nico served from the wood for a Cologne-inspired night out.
If you've ever been to Cologne, you'll have noticed that their drinking culture is wildly different to ours, instead of going up to the bar to order, the smartly dressed and no-nonsense waiters (called Köbes) will bring over circular beer trays (called Kranz) laden with tall thin glasses (called stanges), containing 200ml of freshly poured Kölsch.
When the beers have been served, the Köbe will mark your beer mat to keep track of how many you've had. When your beer is nearly empty the Köbe will bring another stange, and another, until you place a beer mat on top of your glass, signalling you've had your fill.
