What's on in December

Whether you're popping into the taproom or out and about around London, here is an update of what we've got going on in December.

Thursday 1st December - The Shirker's Rest

Order Tap Takeover

Shirker's Rest

You can usually find one of our White Label Specials on the taps at New Cross Micro-pub The Shirker's Rest. And for the first weekend in December, we're taking over all of the taps! Join us on Thursday 1st December for Barley wine, Jolly Saint Nico and Tzatziki Sour on tap alongside our core range Peel, Ivo and Dead Wax. We'll also be bringing a barrel of Nico with us to serve on the bar! So get down there for 6pm to make sure you don't miss out.

 Shirker's Rest, 9 Lewisham Way, London SE14 6PP

Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th December - Pullens Yard Walworth

Pullens Yard Open Studios/ Christmas Market

The first weekend of December, Pullens Yard are opening their studios to the public. Live music, food, Christmas shopping, workshops, Orbit Beers, and more.

Pullens Yards were purpose-built for designer-makers in the late 1880s. The studios have housed craftspeople, working with their hands, for a hundred and twenty years. Unsurprisingly, over this length of time, what most of the crafts-people produce has evolved: at one time the Yards boasted lace makers, fan makers, and cabinet makers; who have been replaced by today’s filmmakers, jewellers, and artist potters. A few crafts have stayed, furniture designers and letterpress printers are here now, just as in the days of Queen Victoria.

Thursday 8th December - Orbit Taproom

Late Night Shopping!

On Thursday 8th December we're having a late night shopping/festive drinks at the taproom. Much more fun than heading to Oxford Street and you'll be supporting independent producers. Even better!

We will have Orbit gift packs available (exclusive to the taproom), Jolly Saint Nico on tap, Glenfarclas whisky cocktails, Igo Atardi organic wines, Afon Mel Mead samples and the opportunity to buy or order gifts in time for Christmas.

Plus a few mince pies and guest DJ Dom in-house to raise the festive spirit!

Friday 9th December - Orbit Taproom

Bring Your Own Vinyl

Our resident DJ will be in playing records all night long. Bring your vinyl along, get on the decks and play 20 minutes of your favourite tracks for a free pint!

Saturday 17th December - Orbit Taproom

Sticky Buttons x Orbit Christmas Party

Having previously featured on Resonance Extra with a monthly show exploring migratory routes and musical oddities from across the globe, Sticky Buttons have gathered an eclectic collection of records too good to keep locked up on a dusty shelf.

Their passion for exploring music from around the globe landed them the opportunity to reissue one of Nigeria's most adored Synth-Funk artists from the 80's Boogie boom. Join Sticky Buttons Collective at Orbit Taproom on 17th December for some pre-Christmas drinks and guest DJs 5pm - late.

Sunday 18th December - Orbit Taproom

Book Your Table for the World Cup Final!

We'll be showing most of the World Cups Games at the taproom. That includes opening early, and opening on Mondays and Tuesdays for selected games. Find out more about when we're open - here.

The World Cup is a much-needed source of enjoyment for many of our customers, but aspects of the tournament this year don't represent our values as a company and a team. So for every pint of Nico Lager sold in the taproom during the matches, we'll be donating 10p to Stonewall to support their Rainbow Laces campaign - championing diversity in football. Because Football is, and should be for everyone.

From 1st December - Orbit Taproom:

New Kitchen Residency - Cue Point Afghan BBQ

Cue Point was established on a passion to create more than just amazing BBQ. The merging of their British heritage, ethnic backgrounds, and personal experiences of growing up in London, dictate why it’s been so important for them to develop inclusive recipes. They want their food to be accessible to a wide range of individuals, notwithstanding their personal or cultural beliefs.

Head Chef Joshua Moroneys’ extensive experience in the world of smoked barbecue has enabled him to explore diverse cooking techniques, flavours and methods e.g. Argentinian, Texan, Afghan, Guyanese, Brazilian etc. taking British Barbecue to new heights and fusing it with an array of inspirations and experiences, in the process of developing an entirely unique cooking style.

Cue Points’ director Mursal Saiqs’ Afghan heritage runs throughout the company from the branding to the menus. Together they’re aiming to create an all-inclusive, multi-sensory barbecue experience.

‘This London smokehouse takes the BBQ scene and turns it upside down, side to side and all around, serving up unbelievably tasty hunks of meat alongside a fantastic array of accompaniments, all made from scratch.’
